Assessment

Ever invested in training that didn't work?
Ever sat in a training program bored out of your mind?

Though many clients have a clear picture of the training required, some need an assessment.

We take a very practical approach to assessment; no complicated surveys, no 360° feedback, no heavy dialogues about paradigm-shifting… Instead, we look at:

  • What's missing? What can we build upon?
We go to the heart of performance issues. We observe, monitor calls, and talk with the reps and their managers.

We prefer to assess on-site because that is the best way to gather a lot of information in a short period of time.

Though assessment clarifies performance issues, we also use our time on-site to accomplish some other cool things, such as:

  • Develop buy-in.
Training succeeds when reps "own" their professional development and feel involved from the start. We start the balling rolling on this as we scope out performance issues.

  • Get a feel for your market and products or services, as well as your organizational style.
Brochures, websites and manuals won't tell us much about the interaction with customers or prospects. Exposure to those interactions during assessment gives us the means to customize training and teaching materials so they really fit.

"We had had a bad experience with cookie-cutter training.  The work you did in advance made all the difference.  The focus groups got people to stop whispering about rumors and be enthused about training.  The report you gave us was honest and will help us with non-training issues.  And the training looked fully custom-made for us."  (K.
