When Money is Not Enough - Get Motivated!

Dear Coach:

I have a terrible manager. I'll spare you the tale of woe. Just want to know if you have advice for how I can get myself up and motivated. The commissions and drive for money used to do it, but now I need something else.

Coach says:

Hey, kudos to you for not dwelling on the manager. You have a lot of power over how you feel. Managers can sure help motivate you, but you've got to do most of it yourself. And you may be surprised to learn that most great salespeople are not motivated by money. Here's a quick and easy thing to get yourself motivated: A theme song.

Choose a song or piece of music that usually jazzes you up or inspires you. Actually, choose a few! As you're driving to work, heading out to sales calls, gearing up for prospecting, or battling the 3 PM blues, plug in those headphones and rock out. Here are some of my favorites:

Let the River Run (Carly Simon, on the Working Girl soundtrack).

You Gotta Be (Des'ree, I Ain't Moving).

Bad to the Bone (George Thorogood & the Destroyers).

Good luck, and please email me with your additions to these motivational tunes.
